The Jacksonville Jaguars, the Jaguars Foundation and Winn-Dixie are giving area children between first and fifth grades the chance to have their art included on the team's 1998 season tickets.
An area-wide art contest is being held from March 1 through March 31 for elementary school children (grades 1-5) for use on the Jaguars' 1998 season tickets. Up to 10 children will be selected as winners, and each child's Jaguars-related art will be printed on one of the 10 tickets for the Jaguars' 1998 home games.
The 10 winners will be formally recognized at and receive four tickets to the Jaguars' first home preseason game on August 14 vs. the New York Giants. Each winning child's school class will receive an ice cream party compliments of Winn-Dixie and hosted by Jaxson de Ville, the Jaguars' mascot. Each winner will also receive one reprint of the 1998 season tickets (which will be mailed at the conclusion of the '98 NFL season).
"This contest provides an exciting opportunity to display the talent of some of Jacksonville's youth, and we encourage the participation of all children, teachers and elementary schools," said Delores Barr Weaver, chair and chief executive officer of the Jaguars Foundation. "It involves our area children with the Jaguars and gives them the opportunity, in a way, to feel ownership in the team. We're eagerly awaiting seeing the artwork that Jacksonville's youth will enter in this contest."
Young boys and girls interested in entering the contest can pick up their contest entry flyers at their local Winn-Dixie stores in Duval, St. Johns, Clay, Baker and Nassau counties. Family members of the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Jaguars Foundation and Winn-Dixie are not eligible. Winners will be announced by May 1.
