Four of Six Jaguars Start in NFL Europe Action in Week One

The six Jacksonville Jaguars players who were allocated to the NFL Europe League began play on Saturday, headlined by wide receiver Jimmy Redmond, who had seven receptions for 103 yards in the Frankfurt Galaxy's 27-24 overtime win against the Berlin Thunder.

Redmond, who also had two kickoff returns for 32 yards, was one of only two players to have over 100 yards receiving for the week.

  • F.C. Barcelona cornerback Renard Cox started and recorded three tackles in a 45-17 loss against the Scottish Claymores
  • Berlin guard Derrick Chambers and offensive tackle Jeff Miller started and helped the Thunder rush for a 4.0-yard average
  • Rhein offensive tackle Patrick Venzke saw action and collected one fumble recovery in a 27-10 loss to Amsterdam
  • Scotland tight end Stevan Fontana saw action

In this weekend's action, the Frankfurt Galaxy will travel to F.C. Barcelona with the Dragons looking for their first win of the season. The game will be televised at 10:00 a.m. Saturday on Fox Sports Net.

In other action, the Amsterdam Admirals, who defeated the Rhein Fire last week, will travel to Berlin. That game will be televised at 12:00 noon Saturday on DirecTV. The Rhein Fire will host Scotland at 1 p.m. Saturday with the game airing on DirecTV.

The six Jaguars' players will not participate in next weekend's minicamp. They will return from the NFL Europe League in time for the start of Jaguars training camp.
