Former Jaguar Fred Taylor honorary chair for 7th annual Guardian Golf Classic

The Haskell Companies and The Guardian Catholic Schools of the Diocese of St. Augustine are teaming up for the 7th annual Guardian Golf Classic and 1st annual Tennis Tournament on Monday, March 28 at the Glen Kernan Golf & Country Club, 4590 Glen Kernan Parkway East in Jacksonville. The honorary chair of this year's tournament is former Jacksonville Jaguar Fred Taylor.

The event begins with registration and breakfast at 7:30 a.m. There will be a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. followed by lunch and an awards ceremony at 1:30 p.m. The event will also include silent and live auctions as well as great raffle give-a-ways.

Proceeds of the charity tournament will help fund scholarships and operational expenses for students attending St. Pius V and Holy Rosary Catholic schools on Jacksonville's northside.

For more than 89 years, these Catholic schools have served low income families by providing them with an affordable option for their children's education. It has been reported that low income children who lack access to quality early learning environments are more likely to drop out of high school. St. Pius V and Holy Rosary schools have responded to the need by offering early childhood education initiatives that have achieved the highest "5 Star" rating in quality Pre-K programs in Duval County. As a result, 94 percent of the students attending these schools graduate from high school.

The Guardian Catholic Schools is a non-profit organization of the Diocese of St. Augustine that raises financial support, in-kind gifts and resources for Pre-K3 through 8th grade students regardless of their economic status or religious preference. This support enables the schools to remain a driving force that addresses child literacy within urban neighborhoods – breaking the cycle of generational illiteracy.

Put faith in our children's education by supporting The Guardian Catholic Schools where tradition, values and affordable education are the key to our community's future. Consider participating in the tournament. Sponsorships are also available.
