First cuts underway

The Jacksonville Jaguars today released wide receivers Troy Edwards and Felton Huggins and placekicker Seth Marler.

Edwards was re-signed as an unrestricted free agent on May 19 from Detroit. The eighth year veteran played in all three preseason games with one catch for three yards. Huggins was originally signed as an undrafted rookie out of Southeastern Louisiana in April and played in two of the three preseason games.

Marler was re-signed by the Jaguars on August 11 and played in the Jaguars last two preseason games. He converted both field goals and all eight extra point attempts for a team-high 14 points.

The Jaguars' roster now stands at 81 players, and the team has until 4:00 p.m. Tuesday to get down to the 75-man roster limit. The Jaguars NFL Europe roster exemptions expire on Tuesday. The deadline for final cuts to 53 is Saturday, Sept. 2.
