These new measures, in the interest of security and safety following last week's terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, are in addition to previous restrictions. In the past, such items as coolers, strollers and umbrellas were not allowed in ALLTEL Stadium. An increased number of uniformed police officers will patrol inside and outside ALLTEL Stadium. New security guidelines have been implemented at all stadiums throughout the National Football League.
All fans attending Sunday's game are strongly encouraged to make plans to arrive early at the stadium because these new safety measures may cause delays at the entry gates. The Touchdown Clubs will open at 11:00 and all other gates will open at 11:30 for Sunday's 1:00 kickoff. Fans are encouraged to move into their seats sooner than usual to avoid the last-minute gate pressure which frequently occurs prior to kickoff.
"I think our fans are going to want to be a part of this tremendous weekend in the NFL," said Jaguars head coach Tom Coughlin. "But I think they have to be fully aware of the security issues that are at stake and they are going to have to be patient and understanding. They should come to the stadium early and allow for all the procedures to take place so that they can be inconvenienced as little as possible. It is going to be an emotional day in the NFL, and our fans should come with the spirit and the enthusiasm of the day. Make no doubt about that - the fans are going to want to be a part of this one."
Fans entering the stadium early will be entertained by Navy Band Jacksonville, which will play patriotic music in the bowl of the stadium from 11:30 to 12:30. There will be no changes in the ALLTEL Stadium parking lots; every vehicle must have a parking pass to enter a lot.
