The Jacksonville Jaguars today released seventh-year veteran wide receiver Troy Edwards.
Edwards, 28, was the Jaguars second-leading receiver in 2004 with 50 receptions for 533 yards and one touchdown while playing in all 16 games. The 5-10, 195-pound wide receiver originally signed with Jacksonville on September 23, 2003. Edwards started 15 of 29 games with the Jaguars totaling 85 receptions for 1,020 yards and four touchdowns.
The Jaguars' roster now stands at 78 players, and the team has until 4:00 p.m. Tuesday to get down to the 65-man roster limit. At this time they also have six NFL Europe roster exemptions. The deadline for final cuts to 53 is Saturday, Sept. 3.
