On April 9 Jaguars defensive end Stalin Colinet took time out to speak to an 8th grade class at Highland Middle School located on Jacksonville's northside.
Colinet, a six-year NFL veteran who previously played with the Minnesota Vikings and Cleveland Browns, joined the Jaguars this spring.
A native of the Bronx, NY, he encouraged the students to make the most of each day, to set goals, and to work hard.
"You have choices every day you wake up," said Colinet. "You are the one that controls your attitude. Every day when you walk through that classroom door, ask yourself what you can do today to feed your dreams."
Colinet diagrammed steps to success, encouraging the students to build a ladder to their dreams, and answered a variety of questions.
"It takes work to get where you want to be," he said. "Don't be afraid of the challenge."
