Jaguars quarterback Mark Brunell has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in last Sunday's 23-17 victory over the Dallas Cowboys.
Brunell completed 20 of 24 passes for 231 yards and three touchdowns and was not intercepted. His passer rating of 146.4 passer is a career best, and his completion percentage of 83.3 tied Rob Johnson's team record set in 1997. Brunell also ran five times for season-high 41 yards and was not sacked for the first time all season.
Through nine games, Brunell ranks eighth in the AFC with with a 79.6 passer rating and is second among NFL quarterbacks with 305 attempts. He has surpassed the 2,000-yard mark passing for the sixth straight season.
This is Brunell's fourth Player of the Week honor. He previously received it for games on November 28, 1999 at Baltimore, January 4, 1997 at Denver (Divisional Playoffs) and November 24, 1996 at Baltimore.
