Brackens re-signed

The Jacksonville Jaguars today re-signed defensive end Tony Brackens to a new one-year contract. Brackens had been released by the Jaguars on March 2 of this year. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"We're happy to have Tony back. I'm sure he's happy to be back out here with team, so we'll get to work," said head coach Jack Del Rio on the signing of Brackens. "We've done the part in terms of getting him signed and getting him back."

Brackens, 29, returned from microfracture surgery on his left knee in 2002 to start 15 games last season. The ninth-year veteran finished as the team leader with six sacks. In his 107 career games and 75 starts in Jacksonville, the former second-round draft pick in 1996 holds team records with 55 sacks, 28 forced fumbles and 13 fumble recoveries.
