JACKSONVILLE – This is a time of transition around the Jaguars.

One of the more significant changes of the 2024 offseason could involve one of the bigger names in franchise history.

Tony Boselli, the first member of the Pride of the Jaguars and the first Jaguars player enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, will have a role with the organization moving forward. Jaguars Owner Shad Khan confirmed the news Monday afternoon in Head Coach Liam Coen's introductory press conference at the Miller Electric Center.

"We're going to have a position," Khan said of Boselli. "We're checking with the league, what the rules are, what we have to follow. And then we'll take it from there."

Boselli was involved in the head-coaching search, and Coen thanked Boselli along with Khan and multiple other Jaguars officials during Monday's press conference.

Khan on Monday also addressed multiple other areas, including the team parting ways with former General Manager Trent Baalke last week. Khan during a January 6 press conference to discuss the dismissal that day of Head Coach Doug Pederson that he would consider an executive vice president if he "found the right person" and that he was open to front-office changes this offseason.

"After the 10 video interviews were done, that was a transition point for me to reflect and what was the right thing for the organization, and that's when I decided that it was time for a change," Khan said of Baalke, adding that he expected to have a new general-manager in place by the end of February.

Khan also on Monday said that one notable change in this coaching search from past coaching searches was that he "was directly involved with the candidates and their representatives."

"I was involved with all of them," Khan said.

Khan also on Monday made clear that Coen as head coach "obviously" will have significant involvement in roster decisions.

"He's the head coach, and we've never had a player come in here that the coaches didn't want," Khan said. "I think it's imperative that he's involved in every player coming in is someone he wants."
