JACKSONVILLE – Mac Jones is coming home.
Jones, a starting quarterback with the New England Patriots the past three seasons, has been acquired by the Jaguars in a trade. The move, which reportedly made this past Sunday, became official on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the start of the 2024 NFL League Year.
Terms of the trade were not disclosed.
Jones, the No. 15 overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft, played locally The Bolles School and attended the University of Alabama. He has started 42 NFL games in three seasons, completing 864 of 1,308 passes for 8,918 yards and 46 touchdowns with 36 interceptions.
Jones is expected to compete for a backup role behind Jaguars starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
