JACKSONVILLE – Let's get to it …

What do you think of Tyler Warren and do you see him as a good probability at No. 5? Teaming him with wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. seems like it would help quarterback Trevor Lawrence make the leap to top tier.
Tyler Warren of Penn State is considered by many analysts to be the best tight end in the 2025 NFL Draft – and he indeed is a special playmaker. He's also considered by some analysts to be a possibility for the Jaguars at No. 5 overall. I don't expect the Jaguars to select him there, but it's hardly out of the question. And yes … pairing him with Thomas would add a weapon to an offense that currently needs them. Would that help Lawrence? Yes.

I'm looking at Ashton Jeanty's and MJD highlights side by side. I'm seeing a lot of similarities. Am I wrong?
I've seen this comparison. My first thought would be that Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty – who also is considered a strong possibility for the Jaguars at No. 5 – may have slightly better vision while former Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew may be slightly better as a power runner and running over defenders. My second thought is that Jeanty overall is a slightly better prospect, which is why he's projected to possibly be selected in the top five.

We flew from Dulles to London for our kids' Spring Break. I wore my Jaguars hoodie hoping to get a "DUUVALL" while walking around in London. To my surprise, the flight attendant came up to me and asked if I was from Jacksonville. I told her we lived there for many years. Then she said, "I just have one thing to say to you" and she hit me with a "DUUVALL." It was just an expected surprise. It made me happier than I thought it would. It's nice to be excited for the future and to get surprise "DUUVALLS." Go Jags!.
Well, that is cool.

While Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham is still the favorite, betting odds shifted significantly on Ashton Jeanty at the fifth overall pick last night. Any particular reason? Where there's smoke there's fire? Or is it just peak silly season at this point in the draft process?
I haven't the foggiest idea about betting odds on draft selections – and I have no idea who the Jaguars will select at No. 5 overall. One reason for this is that the Jaguars don't know who they're going to select there – because they don't yet know who's going to be selected at Nos. 1, 2, 3 or 4. I think there's a good chance Graham will be the selection and a good chance Jeanty could be the selection. Why are people talking about Jeanty to the Jaguars more than previously was the case? Because observers are starting to realize what people running franchises have realized for a while – that even though he plays an undervalued position, Jeanty is among the three or four best prospects in the draft. And that could push him into the Top 5.

If the Jags draft Mason Graham with the fifth overall pick, he will only be the second defensive tackle drafted in the Top 5 over the last 14 years. Perennial All-Pro Quinnen Williams was drafted third in 2019 – and before that, you have to go back to 2011 with Marcel Dareus. Top 5 Big Board defensive tackles often slide in drafts in favor of desperate teams reaching for a premium position players. I contend that consensus Top 5 big board defensive tackles are not only the safe selection but the best selection. One only needs to watch last year's completely embarrassing Buffalo Bills or Detroit Lions game to know what the Jags' biggest need is and how lucky they will be if the best available player at five fits that need. One more fer Mason Graham.
One fer research – and one, of course, fer Graham.

Is Tony in charge of marketing? How come he hasn't gone to Culligan and brought them back as a sponsor yet?
Boselli is not in charge of the Jaguars' marketing department. He is in charge of football operations departments such as player engagement, football technology, football travel and logistics, equipment, sports performance, team security and football communications. Other than that … I have no idea what you're talking about.

Can we just agree the Jalen Ramsey is not "intangibly rich" and move on? Also, great job on the E.V. Podcast with Boselli. With every discussion everyone in the organization saying how great the work environment is and how everyone is on the same page now ... just how bad was it with the previous regime?
Whatever his level of intangibly richness, the Jaguars aren't going to trade for Miami Dolphins and former Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey -- though I can't control whether readers are ready to "move on" from the topic. As for "environment" and being on the "same page…" when NFL teams lose and regimes near their end, as happened around the Jaguars last season, work environments and alignment naturally decline a bit. When regimes begin and everything is new, as is now the case around the Jaguars, talk naturally turns to a better environment and alignment – and the environment is indeed good and aligned around the Jaguars these days. The test comes with adversity. What happens when you get punched in the mouth? When you lose consecutive games? When things aren't sunshine and roses? I believe this group will handle that well. Stay tuned.

Give us a Eugene "Dynamite" Frenette co-hosted O-Zone just once. Don will wear a tuxedo T-shirt.
Longtime Florida Times-Union sports columnist and Northeast Florida cultural icon/thought leader Eugene P. "Gene" Frenette only co-hosts events when he gets to wear the tuxedo T-shirt. His world, his rules.

Is there any expected level of churn in the personnel and scouting departments after the draft and all UDFA players have been signed?
Jaguars General Manager James Gladstone is in his first year on the job, and it's not uncommon for first-year general managers to hire a few "lieutenants" shorty after the draft and collegiate free agency. This is the time this happens because one draft is in the rearview and preparations for the next draft are beginning. It's also not uncommon for first-year general managers to hire a few area scouts at that time. At the same time, it's not uncommon for much of a scouting department to stay the same through a transition. This can depend on the general manager's impressions of the department in the first few months on the job. I would expect a few changes because people often want their own "people" around them. How extensive the change will be remains to be seen.

On the subject of rookie draft analysis, I read the Wonderlic test is optional. Was it ever mandatory? I remember Tony did very well. Do any teams use said test for analysis?
If a team wants a prospect to take the Wonderlic test, the prospect can choose to do so or choose not to do so. There's very little "mandatory" when it comes to the pre-draft process. Players don't technically have to work out, attend the NFL Scouting Combine, participate in Pro Days or travel to team facilities for "Top 30" visits. Yes, teams use the Wonderlic for analysis.

Do you see Jaguars Head Coach Liam Coen in the same vein as guys like former Arizona Cardinals/Tampa Bay Buccaneers Head Coach Bruce Arians, Los Angeles Rams Head Coach Sean McVay, San Francisco 49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan, or some of the other certified " Quarterback Whisperers." If so, will this be the first time Lawrence has been exposed to this level of talent?
I confess I don't know exactly what defines a "quarterback whisperer." Coen has a reputation as working well with quarterbacks and had success last season with Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield. He appears to know football. His system will be designed to be quarterback-friendly and help Lawrence.

John. As a young local play-by play announcer, I once upset a cultural pop icon named Eugene P. Frenette. It was not pretty. In fact, I feared for my life as fire shot from his eyes. I learned a lesson that day. He is always watching and listening and not to be toyed with. I saw him in training camp a few years ago and we caught up for a few minutes. I was glad that he didn't remember, but I was reminded never turn your back for he has the ability to take you apart. There is only one Eugene P. Frenette and he is to be revered.
Sounds like you and I know the same Gene.
