JACKSONVILLE – Nick Foles will need some help.
Specifically, he will need offensive help.
That's the prevailing theory this week among NFL Draft analysts, with many projecting that the Jaguars' reported acquisition of the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback this week will lead the team to selecting offense in Round 1 of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Nine of ten mock drafts included in this week's 10th jaguars.com 2019 draft tracker projected the Jaguars selecting an offensive player at No. 7 overall, with University of Florida offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor a popular Jaguars selection for a second consecutive week.
D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Kalyn Kahler of Monday Morning Quarterback projected Taylor to the Jaguars, as did Pete Prisco of CBS Sports.
"After landing Nick Foles at quarterback, they now need to fix the offense around him," Prisco wrote. "Taylor would be a Day One starter on the right side with the release of Jermey Parnell."
Iowa tight end T.J. Hockenson also remained a popular selection for the Jaguars at No. 7, with Dan Kadar of SB Nation and Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports projecting him there.
"When the Jaguars inevitably sign quarterback Nick Foles in free agency, it's imperative they smartly build around him," Kadar wrote. "What smarter way than a dependable tight end who can help in the pass and run game?"
Luke Easterling of USA Today and Danny Kelly of the Ringer projected the Jaguars selecting Mississippi wide receiver D.K. Metcalf at No. 7, while Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports projected Hockenson's Iowa teammate – tight end Noah Fant – to the Jaguars there.
"This selection is presuming Nick Foles lands in Jacksonville in free agency," Trapasso wrote. "With Fant, clearly the most athletic tight end prospect in this class, the Jaguars envision a Zach Ertz-type pass catcher for their new quarterback."
Josh Norris of Rotoworld was the only analyst in this week's mock draft tracker to project a quarterback to the Jaguars: Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins.
"Nick Foles might be on the roster next week," Norris wrote. "Even if he is signed, Haskins can still be in play."
Chad Reuter of NFL Media projected the Jaguars selecting Alabama defensive tackle Quinnen Williams at No. 7.
"Signing Nick Foles would give the Jaguars a chance to select the best defender on the board here," Reuter wrote.
