Mock Draft Tracker 14.0: Corner All the Way

JACKSONVILLE – The favorite position remains the favorite position.

The favorite players remain pretty much the same, too.

This is the 14th 2024 jaguars.com mock draft tracker. As often has been the case in recent weeks, cornerback is the most-projected position among analysts for the Jaguars at No. 17 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The players projected there are familiar, too, with Alabama cornerback Terrion Arnold remaining a popular prediction for the Jaguars in Round 1.

"Arnold is a ballhawk and plus tackler who shined at a Power Five school, important for Jags GM Trent Baalke," Evan Silva of Establish the Run wrote, with Pete Prisco of CBS writing of the Jaguars, "Terrion Arnold would give them the chance to play more man coverage."

Added Kyle Stackpole of CBS: "Terrion Arnold has the production, physicality and mindset to challenge receivers in the AFC South and across the league."

Diante Lee of the 33rd Team wrote: "Terrion Arnold is great at the line of scrimmage, understands how to stay tight to routes as they break downfield and was the most productive in the class at the catch point in 2023."

Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell also remained a popular projection at No. 17.

"Quinyon Mitchell has 4.33 speed, legitimate NFL boundary cornerback size, and defended 45 passes the past three seasons. What's not to like?" Chris Trapasso of CBS wrote.

"Quinyon Mitchell may go five to seven picks earlier than this, so to get him at 17 would be a great value," Eric Galko of CBS wrote.

Other players projected to the Jaguars in this week's tracker: Cornerback Kool-Aid McInstry of Alabama, defensive lineman Jer'Zhan Newton of Illinois, edge Jared Verse of Florida State, wide receiver Brian Thomas of Louisiana State, wide receiver Rome Odunze of Washington and offensive tackle Olumuyiwa Fashanu of Penn State.

"His hand usage, pass-rush tools and block-shedding ability allow him to be very productive in any alignment as a three-to-five-technique player," Steve Palazzola of Pro Football Focus wrote of Newton, with Sam Monson of PFF writing of Newton: "He recorded a 15.4% pass-rush win rate last season and lined up extensively in NFL alignments."
