Mock Draft Tracker 13.0: Cornerback Is the Strong Pick for the Jaguars at No. 17

JACKSONVILLE – The day draws near, the names stay familiar.

This is the 13th 2024 jaguars.com mock draft tracker – and cornerback remains an overwhelmingly prominent projection for the Jaguars with the No. 17 overall selection in the April 25-27 2024 NFL Draft.

More than half of the analysts in this week's tracker projected the Jaguars selecting cornerback in Round 1, with five analysts projecting Alabama cornerback Terrion Arnold there. He increasingly has been projected to the Jaguars there in recent weeks.

"Arnold is an in-your-face coverage talent with high football character and the competitive fire Jacksonville coaches will love," Lance Zierlein of NFL Media wrote.

"Terrion Arnold is the top cornerback prospect in this class for some, so that is great value at this stage of the first round," Josh Edwards of CBS wrote.

Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell also remained a popular projection for the Jaguars at No. 17 overall.

"After finishing as the highest-graded FBS cornerback in each of the past two seasons, Mitchell dominated the Senior Bowl before testing as the most athletic cornerback in the class," Max Chadwick of Pro Football Focus wrote, with Rob Rang of Fox Sports writing: "Mitchell erased any concerns about his level of competition with terrific performances at the Senior Bowl and NFL Combine, ranking as the top cornerback in the draft for some scouts."

Wide receiver also remains a position of interest for the Jaguars for analysts, with Ian Valentino of the 33rd Team projecting Xavier Worthy of Texans to the team at No. 17 overall.

"Worthy has the field vision and open-field burst to create easy yards after the catch. He has to improve his route running and reliability as a pass-catcher, but it's undeniable how much of a game-breaker he is," Valentino wrote.

Other players projected to the Jaguars at No. 17 overall in this week's tracker:

Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins, Rutgers cornerback Max Melton, Alabama cornerback Kool-Aid McInstry, Louisiana State wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr., Duke offensive lineman Graham Barton, Georgia offensive tackle Amarius Mims, Texans defensive lineman Byron Murphy II,and Illinois defensive lineman Jer'Zhan Newton.

"Byron Murphy II is the best defensive linemen in this class, and he could end up going higher than this," Ryan Wilson of CBS wrote.
