The Jacksonville Jaguars went through one practice session today, one day before two scheduled practices against the New Orleans Saints.
Of the practices with the Saints, Coughlin said, "I am anxious to see them. It’s a practice, but it’ll naturally be more intense than the normal practice. But it still fits all the regimen of a practice. You’ll see the same drills. It’ll all be structured by situation, and we’ll see how they handle it. We know exactly what the tempo should be and what we’re trying to accomplish. We want it to be intense. We’ll control as much as we possibly can and then play football."
Jaguars quarterback Mark Brunell was held out of today’s practice. "He had some general soreness and tightness in the shoulder, so we decided we would just not have him work this morning. The good side is that those three kids move up and they get all the snaps for the day," Coughlin said of backups David Garrard, Quinn Gray and Roderick Robinson. "That can’t help but be good. Anytime you get that situation where they’re moving up, it’s good."
Coughlin added that he expects Brunell to practice against the Saints. The two practices will be at 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Friday at the practice fields at ALLTEL Stadium. Both sessions are open to the public. Head coach Tom Coughlin will be available to the media on the field after both practices. Jaguars players will be available for interviews from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Radisson Riverwalk Hotel.
Saints head coach Jim Haslett will be available on the field following both practices, and Saints player interviews will take place in the West Touchdown Club lobby around the team’s lunch.
