JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed OL Mitch Morse and re-signed RB D'Ernest Johnson and LB Caleb Johnson, the team announced today.
Originally from Austin, Texas, Morse was drafted by Kansas City in the second round (49th overall) of the 2015 draft. He spent four seasons in Kansas City (2015-18) before signing with Buffalo, where he spent his last five seasons (2019-23). Morse has started in 126 regular season games and 13 postseason appearances (three with Kansas City, 10 with Buffalo) in nine seasons. In 2015, he was selected to the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team and in 2022 he received his first Pro Bowl Games selection. Last season, he was also nominated by Buffalo for the Art Rooney Sportsmanship award.
D'Ernest Johnson has appeared in 81 games including all 17 contests last season with Jacksonville. He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent and has since recorded 846 rushing yards, 369 receiving yards and three touchdowns in his five-year career. The Immokalee, Fla. native attended the University of South Florida from 2014 to 2017 where he finished as USF's career leader in all-purpose yards, receptions by a running back and receiving yards by a running back.
Caleb Johnson was originally signed as a rookie free agent by Chicago on May 14, 2021. He was later acquired by Jacksonville in Sept. 2022 and has participated in 34 games for the Jaguars over the last two seasons (2022-23). The Point Loma, Calif. native was a three-year starter at Houston Baptist and is the first player in their football program's 11-year history to sign with an NFL team.
