Jaguars Mock Draft Tracker 2.0: Many Possible Selections at No. 17

012224 Mock Draft 2.0

JACKSONVILLE – So many analysts, so many possibilities.

This is the second jaguars.com 2024 mock draft tracker – and just like the one that preceded it, there are nearly as many selections as there are analysts projecting the Jaguars' selection at No. 17 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Defensive line remained a popular selection there, with Illinois defensive lineman Jer'Zhan Newton the lone player projected to the Jaguars at No. 17 by more than one analyst in the second tracker.

"His agility and burst make him a menace as a gap penetrator, but he also provides the intelligence and raw power of a high-end run defender," Dalton Miller of Pro Football Network wrote of Newton, with Tony Catalina of Pro Football Network adding:

"Defensive tackles in the first round aren't the sexiest of picks, but none of that matters when you draft a guy who has the ability of Jer'Zhan Newton."

Cornerback also was a popular selection for the Jaguars in the second tracker, with NFL Media Analyst Daniel Jeremiah projecting Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell at No. 17.

"He is incredibly gifted and will put on a show when it comes to athletic testing," Jeremiah wrote.

Other prospects projected to the Jaguars in the second tracker: Alabama edge Dallas Turner, Texas defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat, Texas defensive tackle Byron Murphy II, Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins, Washington offensive tackle Troy Fautanu, Oregon State offensive tackle Taliese Fuaga, Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze, Florida State wide receiver Keon Coleman and Louisiana State wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr.

"Coleman brings great size and athleticism to the offense, and he gives [Jaguars quarterback Trevor] Lawrence] a familiar body type to hit downfield," Joe Broback of the Pro Football Network wrote, with Brentley Weissman of The Draft Network writing that "Troy Fautanu is an outstanding prospect who has the athleticism and play strength to be an impact tackle or guard at the next level."
