Jaguars make roster moves

The Jacksonville Jaguars today signed fifth-year center/guard Steve Vallos and 2012 fifth-round draft pick Brandon Marshall to the 53-man roster.  Quarterback John Parker Wilson and running back Keith Toston were waived.   First-year cornerback Prince Miller was waived from the practice squad.

Vallos, 6-3, 310, has played in 42 games with eight starts.  He was originally a seventh-round draft pick of Seattle in 2007 where he spent three seasons before two seasons with Cleveland (2010-11).  He signed as a free agent with Philadelphia on Aug. 31, 2012 and played in two games for the club before being released on Oct. 23.

A native of Boardman, Ohio, Vallos set a school record at Wake Forest with 48 starts.  He received first-team All-America honors as a senior while leading the Demon Deacons to the ACC championship.  He lettered in football, wrestling, shot-put and discus at Boardman High School.  Vallos set wrestling records as a high school senior for pins in a season (24) and a career (58).

Marshall spent the first seven weeks on the Jaguars' roster before being waived last Saturday.  He saw action in four games and recorded two special teams tackles. He was the 142nd overall pick in this year's draft after starting four seasons at Nevada.
