WHAT : Jacksonville Jaguar Mike Peterson, an 9-year veteran of the NFL, will celebrate his fourth
Thanksgiving holiday season in Alachua, FL, his hometown, by providing a little holiday cheer for 80 under-served families.
Each of the 80 families will receive a special greeting and holiday dinner basket from Peterson and his wife Chantal at Hitchcock's Supermarkets on US Highway 441 in Alachua.
Participating families have been identified in cooperation with Alachua County Schools and have children enrolled at Alachua Elementary , W.W. Irby Elementary, A.L. Mebane Middle and Sante Fe High Schools.
Dedicated to giving back, Peterson also hosts an annual Christmas holiday "Gift Giving Celebration" for Alachua youth and will continue his Christmas Holiday program this 2007 holiday season in Jacksonville, his NFL hometown community.
The 2008 Thanksgiving Holiday Celebration is sponsored by Hitchcock's Markets, Cheney Brothers and their vendors. Founder of The Mike Peterson Foundation, Peterson and his wife Chantal, are dedicated to improving the quality of life and promoting the positive development of youth through football and other community outreach projects similar to the holiday programs.
