HOUSTON, Texas – The Jaguars' starting-safety tandem will be active Week 1.
Tashaun Gipson, the Jaguars' starting free safety who was listed as questionable with an ankle injury on the team's final injury report of the week, will play against the Houston Texans Sunday in the 2017 regular-season opener at NRG Stadium Sunday.
Gipson was not among the team's seven inactives announced an hour and a half before kickoff. He and Barry Church are expected to start at safety, with Church starting at strong safety.
T.J. Yeldon, expected to play a role as the Jaguars' third-down running back, was one of the seven Jaguars players ruled inactive Sunday. He had been listed as questionable with a hamstring injury.
The rest of the Jaguars' Week 1 inactives:
*Cornerback Jalen Myrick, safety Calvin Pryor, linebacker Blair Brown, offensive lineman Josh Walker, offensive lineman William Poehls and defensive lineman Michael Bennett.
