The Jacksonville Jaguars today placed defensive end Reggie Hayward on injured reserve with an Achilles tendon injury suffered in Sunday's 24-17 win over Dallas. The Jaguars signed rookie defensive tackle Montavious Stanley to their active roster off the St. Louis Rams' practice squad.
Hayward, 27, was the Jaguars' sack leader last year with 8.5. He has started 16 games for the Jaguars after signing as an unrestricted free agent last season. The sixth-year veteran has started 35 of his 62 career games with 186 tackles, 30.5 sacks and five forced fumbles.
Stanley, 24, was originally drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the sixth round of the 2006 NFL Draft out of Louisville with the 182nd overall pick. The 6-2, 310-pound defensive tackle was waived in final cuts and signed with St. Louis to their practice squad. The Albany, Ga. native started 34 of 47 career games at Louisville with 131 tackles and 12.5 sacks. He will wear jersey No. 94.
The Jaguars also re-signed offensive tackle Ryan Gibbons to the practice squad after center Brett Romberg was signed to the Rams' active roster.
