Jason DesJarlais is in his 18th season with the Jaguars and his first as a Pro Scout after serving 17 seasons in various roles as a College Scout. He joined the Jaguars as the BLESTO scout for the Southeast area on May 18, 2007. Prior to joining the Jaguars, he was the special teams coordinator/defensive assistant at Yale University. While at Yale, he served as a scouting intern with the Jaguars in 2006.
Prior to coaching at Yale, DesJarlais worked as the special teams/recruiting coordinator and secondary coach at Jacksonville University (2005-06) and served as the defensive coordinator/recruiting coordinator at the University of San Diego from 2002-05, including a stint in 2003 as the interim head coach. From 2000-02, he worked as a defensive line and strength coach at Bates College. Prior to that, he coached the defensive line unit at both San Diego (1999-2000) and Humboldt State University (1997-99) as well as the University of Montana Western from 1996-97.
DesJarlais attended the University of Montana Western, playing defensive end from 1992-95 and twice earning All-America honors (1994-95). He was also named Defensive MVP of the 1996 National All-Star Game. On Sept. 26, 2015, he was inducted into the University of Montana Western Hall of Fame and is a member of the 1994 Hall of Fame Football Team. DesJarlais graduated with a bachelor's degree in education, in addition to earning a master's degree in science, with an emphasis in physiology, from Humboldt State University.
