Lanier Coleman begins his first season in Jacksonville in 2025 as assistant strength and conditioning coach. Most recently, he served as the senior associate director of football strength and conditioning at Florida State (2020-25).
Coleman joined Florida State after five seasons at Ole Miss as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for football. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, he served as the liaison to sports nutrition and coordinated intern development. During his first season with the Rebels, the team won 10 games, secured a Sugar Bowl victory and finished the year ranked 10th in the nation.
Coleman served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at California Berkeley from 2012-13, working primarily with softball and women's gymnastics, as well as assisting with football. In 2011, Coleman interned in athletic development at his alma mater, Louisiana-Lafayette, before accepting an assistant strength and conditioning coach position at Rice later that year. While with the Owls, he worked with football, baseball, golf, men's and women's tennis, women's track and women's swimming.
He began his coaching career as the offensive and defensive line coach at Ascension Episcopal High School in Youngsville, La., in 2010.
Coleman played football for four years at Louisiana-Lafayette, starting on the offensive line before switching to the defensive line and becoming a defensive captain his senior year. He was invited to the Minnesota Vikings rookie minicamp and played two seasons in the Southern Indoor Football League. He then had NFL opportunities as a guard with the Green Bay Packers in 2013 and as a defensive tackle with the New York Jets (2013) and Tennessee Titans (2014).
Coleman earned his bachelor's degree in general studies with a concentration in behavioral science from Louisiana-Lafayette in 2008.
He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, is USAW certified and has earned the pn1 Precision Nutritionist certification. Coleman is a member of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association.
