Cory Robinson is in his first season as defensive assistant/cornerbacks coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2024. Robinson, who possesses 15 years of coaching experience, spent the 2023 season at the University of Tennessee where he served as a defensive analyst. The Volunteers went 9-4 and finished 17th in the AP Top 25 rankings. Tennessee's defense finished the season with 855 tackles, 41.0 sacks, 12 interceptions and five forced fumbles. In 2022, the Volunteers' passing defense ranked 127th in the nation in yards allowed per game and improved to 67th in the 2023 season under Robinson's guidance.
Before Tennessee, Robinson spent three seasons (2020-22) with the New Orleans Saints, serving as assistant defensive backs coach. In 2022, the Saints ranked second-best in passing defense in the NFL allowing 184.4 passing yards per game.
In 2021, the Saints defensive staff developed third round draft pick Paulson Adebo, who was the only Saints defender to start all 17 contests in 2021, while tying for the team lead with three interceptions, second among all NFL rookies. CB Marshon Lattimore was selected to his third consecutive Pro Bowl and second under Robinson. New Orleans was tied for sixth in the NFL with 18 interceptions, with 16 of them coming from the secondary. In addition to New Orleans finishing fourth in the NFL in scoring defense (19.7 points per game) and seventh in total defense (318.2 net yards per game), the Saints gave up the third-fewest touchdown passes (20) and led the league with the lowest redzone conversion percentage (43.5).
Prior to coming to New Orleans in 2020, Robinson spent four seasons in college working with defensive backs. The Baltimore native served as the defensive passing game coordinator/defensive backs coach at the University of Maryland in 2019, where he also was director of player personnel in 2015.
Prior to his 2019 stint in College Park, Robinson served as passing game coordinator/cornerbacks coach at Rutgers in 2018. He also coached cornerbacks at Toledo (2016) and Temple (2017). In 2017, he helped guide the Owls to a first-place American Athletic Conference ranking in pass defense, as they allowed only 206.8 passing yards per game. Prior to moving into the college ranks in 2015, Robinson coached at two high schools in Maryland from 2009-14.
Robinson was a starting cornerback at Central Connecticut State, earning a bachelor's degree in communications with a minor in business/marketing in 2009. He is also co-founder of Next Level Nation, a Baltimore-based nonprofit that hosts football workouts, among other services for local student athletes in need of mentorship.
He and his wife Candy have three sons: Denali, Royal and Legend.
