In honor of Women's History Month the Jacksonville Jaguars asked five questions to women employees who are actively transforming and paving the way for women working in sports and entertainment. Currently, the Jaguars have over 100 women on staff across the Jacksonville Jaguars and Bold Events organizations. Stay tuned for all our features throughout the entire month of March.
What is your advice to younger women interested in working in sports?
- Take up space. Do not allow people to dim your light; you are here for a reason and your voice and opinion matter! Never stop believing in yourself; always give back to the younger generations.
Describe a favorite memory or experience you have had while working with the Jaguars.
- Working at the Jaguars, I have countless memories and experiences that I love; however, my favorite has to be launching The Jaguars volunteer portal. Launching the portal has allowed the organization to track volunteer hours, see the impact that our organization is making, and increase the participation of front office staff volunteering tremendously. Seeing all the hard work pay off is a good feeling!
Who is someone that has helped get you to the position or shaped you into the person you are today?
- I wouldn't be where I am today without my father. He instilled confidence, strength, and the understanding that I belong. He has been by my side every step of the way, through the good times and hard times. He never let me drop my head or believe I wasn't good enough. I wouldn't be the woman I am without him! Love you, pops!
What was your journey in getting to your role?
- My journey in working in sports started at my alma mater, The University of Kentucky. Throughout my time at UK, I was the PR and Marketing intern for sports, focusing on basketball and football specifically. I was honored to be mentored by some of the best and learn that my voice and opinion matter.
- I witnessed women killing it in all departments, which helped me realize this is an achievable goal. These women helped me recognize that representation matters, and I am forever thankful for the woman who helped me along the way. I am a product of strong women in sports, and I plan on passing those skills down to the next generation.
In one word, describe being a women in sports.
- Powerful.
