Hiring a great sales team is not a case of nature over nurture. You may have a friend with the stereotypical personality of a "born salesman," but I would argue that a skilled sales professional can very well be taught.
I'm a prime example, having come out of college with a science degree and a job as a biologist. It took one person introducing me to the sales side and giving me the resources and motivation to succeed, and 16 years later I'm still a salesman.
