Scouting the opponent
"Whether you talk about offense, defense or special teams, there's probably no one in football that means more to their team than Maurice Jones-Drew, in terms of the things he's capable of doing and the things he does," said Coach Mike Tomlin. "When you watch him on tape, he's a very physical runner. He has great vision, power and speed. He's not small; he's just short. He has built in leverage." Steelers.com http://bit.ly/nIEGcr
"A week ago when Mike Tomlin read the Steelers injury report it seemed there were more names on it than off. But one week and a victory later, the injury outlook is getting brighter." Steelers.com http://bit.ly/qu5EYx

Defensive end Aaron Smith will not dress for Sunday's game. Pittsburgh Tribune Review http://bit.ly/mPZNMd
"Like a sixth-man, Foster has spent much of his three seasons coming off the bench for the Steelers. The versatile offensive lineman -- sometimes a third tight end -- lingered in the shadows until he was thrust into the spotlight amid a plethora of injuries, including guards Doug Legursky and Chris Kemoeatu." Pittsburgh Tribune Review http://bit.ly/rgNQim
"The Jaguars have won their last three games at Heinz Field, but that streak will end Sunday unless they pull off the most stunning upset in the NFL this season." Beaver County Times http://bit.ly/nTDlj8
Around the NFL
"The Super Bowl is heading back to the desert in 2015, one year after it will be at the mercy of winter weather in the Meadowlands. The Phoenix area was awarded the 49th Super Bowl by NFL owners Tuesday, beating the only other candidate - Tampa, Fla." CNNSI.com http://bit.ly/nQXbtg

"If Tebow hadn't been named the starter, Broncos season ticket holders would have been well within their right to demand refunds. Same goes for fans of the winless Dolphins, who will host the Broncos on Oct. 23, after Denver's bye week." FoxSports.com http://on-msn.com/oj0cqU

The last word
"I think he's been terrific. I think when you really look at the tape you've got to be excited about what you're seeing Blaine Gabbert do. The first drive of the game makes a couple beautiful throws on third down. He's made some great throws. To see Jason Hill go by a safety who's bit up and put himself out of position, and to see that come open, we've not experienced that for a while here. That was a good sign. To have him at the end make the right check, they're bringing all out zero, we got a chance to gouge them for a potential game-winner and he's making the right check and we just get a little antsy before it on the snap. Boy, those are really good signs for this franchise and for that young man and what he can do for us, so I'm very excited about that."
