The Roar ‹ the Jacksonville Jaguars' 1996 cheerleader squad ‹ was announced and introduced today at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. The squad is made up of 36 women, including 19 who were on the squad last year. Auditions for the 1996 squad began on April 13, when 287 women registered and completed the first round of auditions. Selections of the final 36 members of the squad were made yesterday.

The Roar incorporates an up-tempo, dance-oriented style, and performs at all Jaguars home games. The squad's first performance will be at the Jaguars' preseason opener at 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 2 against the New York Giants.
