THE ROAR OF THE JAGUARS INTRODUCED TODAY

The Roar ‹ the Jacksonville Jaguars' 1996 cheerleader squad ‹ was announced and introduced today at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. The squad is made up of 36 women, including 19 who were on the squad last year. Auditions for the 1996 squad began on April 13, when 287 women registered and completed the first round of auditions. Selections of the final 36 members of the squad were made yesterday.

The 1996 members of The Roar are:

Latricia Allen, a 30-year-old computer programmer from Tallahassee (2nd year on squad)

Samantha Arnold, a 25-year-old accounting clerk from Jacksonville (2nd year)

Brittany Bines, a 24-year-old cost accountant from Atlantic Beach (2nd year)

Amy Bradford, a 20-year-old sales associate from Jacksonville

Marisa Dawson, a 24-year-old administrative assistant from Jacksonville

Marchelle Elliott, a 28-year-old personal trainer from Orange Park

Whitney Ellison, a 26-year-old registered nurse from Atlantic Beach (2nd year)

Amanda Garlington, a 21-year-old student from Middleburg

Tammy Gayle, a 26-year-old gymnastics instructor from Jacksonville

Jocelyn Geronimo-Rigby, a 25-year-old aerobics instructor from Atlantic Beach

Diane Gray, a 27-year-old office manager from Atlantic Beach

Sue Hawkins, a 23-year-old loan processor from Jacksonville (2nd year)

Michon Hazouri, 23-year-old student from Jacksonville (2nd year)

The Roar incorporates an up-tempo, dance-oriented style, and performs at all Jaguars home games. The squad's first performance will be at the Jaguars' preseason opener at 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 2 against the New York Giants.
