JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars changed the roster in a big way Tuesday.
Twelve days before the 2022 regular-season opener, the Jaguars had one of their busiest transaction days of the year as they reduced their roster to the NFL regular-season limit of 53 players.
Teams had until Tuesday at 4 p.m. EST to do so.
The Jaguars waived 14 players Tuesday and waived/injured two others. This came a day after the Jaguars released four players, waived six others and traded wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. to the Carolina Panthers.
Quarterback E.J. Perry, cornerback Gregory Junior and defensive tackle Jay Tufele were among the players waived Tuesday. Tufele was a fourth-round selection in the 2021 NFL Draft, Junior was a sixth-round selection in the '22 draft and the Jaguars signed Perry as a collegiate free agent shortly after the '22 draft.
Tuesday's moves:
- Waived: Defensive lineman Israel Antwine, wide receiver Kevin Austin Jr., outside linebacker Rashod Berry, wide receiver Jeff Cotton Jr., cornerback Xavier Crawford, offensive lineman Coy Cronk, offensive lineman Nick Ford, Junior, safety Ayo Oyelola, Perry, tight end Gerrit Prince, Tufele, offensive lineman Darryl Williams and running back Mekhi Sargent.
- Waived/injured: Wide receiver Willie Johnson and defensive tackle Raequan Williams.
The team announced the transactions Tuesday, with all players released/waived over the last two days eligible to be on the Jaguars' 16-player practice squad. Six of those players can be veterans of any experience.
The Jaguars on Monday waived defensive lineman Auzoyah Alufohai, running back Ryquell Armstead, cornerback Benjie Franklin, defensive back Brandon Rusnak, linebacker Chapelle Russell and offensive lineman Badara Traore. They also on that day released linebacker Tyrell Adams, safety Rudy Ford, offensive lineman KC McDermott and wide receiver Laquon Treadwell and traded Shenault.
The Jaguars over the last two days waived/released 11 players who spent time on the team's active roster last season: Armstead, Cotton, Cronk, Rusnak, Russell, Traore, Rudy Ford, McDermott, Treadwell, Sargent and Tufele.
