JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed CB Amani Oruwariye to the practice squad and released OLB Derek Parish from the practice squad, the team announced today.
Oruwariye was drafted in the fifth round (146_th_ overall) by the Detroit Lions in the 2019 NFL Draft. During his four seasons with the Lions, Oruwariye recorded 171 total tackles, 24 passes defensed and nine interceptions. He appeared in 53 games with 36 starts from 2019-2022. Oruwariye spent the first half of the 2023 season on the New York Giants practice squad.
The St. Petersburg, Fla. native played collegiately at Penn State where he played in 48 games across four seasons (2015-2018). In his collegiate career, he recorded 107 total tackles, 30 passes defensed and eight interceptions. In his final season in 2018, Oruwariye earned first-team All-Big Ten honors and was a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award. Oruwariye attended Gaither High School in Tampa, Fla.
