JACKSONVILLE – Saturday began defensively.
With five selections scheduled for Day 3 of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Jaguars began the day addressing the defensive front.
Jay Tufele, a defensive tackle from the University of Southern California, was selected by the Jaguars with the first selection of Round 4. The selection was No. 106 overall.
Tufele (6-feet-3, 315 pounds) opted out of the 2020 season. He played two collegiate seasons after red-shirting as a freshman. He appeared in 12 games in 2018 and started 13 as a redshirt sophomore in 2017. He finished his career with 65 tackles, including 11 for loss. He started 18 total games at Southern California.
The Jaguars on Thursday selected Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence No. 1 overall and Clemson running back Travis Etienne No. 25 overall -- selecting Georgia cornerback Tyson Campbell No. 33 overall, Stanford offensive tackle Walker Little No. 45 overall on Friday and Syracuse safety Andre Cisco No. 65 overall Friday. They hold four more selections in the '21 draft: No. 130 overall (Round 4), No. 145 overall (Round 5), No. 170 overall (Round 5) and No. 249 overall (Round 7).
