JACKSONVILLE – Jaguars didn't stray from defense long Saturday.
Raymond Vohasek, a defensive lineman from the University of North Carolina, on Saturday was selected by the Jaguars in Round 7 of the 2023 NFL Draft – the No. 227 overall selection.
Vohasek became the seventh defensive player selected by the Jaguars on Day 3, and was the second of back-to-back selections. The team selected Appalachian State offensive tackle Cooper Hodges one selection earlier.
Vohasek (6-feet-3, 310 pounds), who played his entire career at North Carolina, started all five games in which he played in 2022 before missing the rest of the season with what North Carolina announced as an "upper-body injury." He was an honorable mention All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection in 2021.
He registered 5.5 career sacks with 96 total tackles and 17 tackles for loss.
Vohasek became the third North Carolina player selected by the Jaguars in the NFL Draft, the first since defensive back Gerald Sensabaugh (Round 5, 2005).
The Jaguars earlier Saturday selected Florida linebacker Vontrell Miller (Round 4, No. 121 overall), Oklahoma State defensive end Tyler Lacy (Round 4, No. 130 overall), Louisville linebacker Yasir Abdullah (Round 5, No. 136 overall), Texas A&M safety Antonio Johnson (Round 5, No. 160 overall), Penn State wide receiver Parker Washington (Round 6, No. 185 overall), Rutgers cornerback Christian Braswell (Round 6, No. 202 overall) and Pittsburgh safety Eric Hallett II (Round 7, No. 208) overall.
The Jaguars also on Saturday traded the No. 127 overall selection to the New Orleans Saints for the No. 227 overall selection in 2023 and a fourth-round 2024 selection.
The Jaguars on Friday selected Penn State University tight end Brenton Strange with the No. 61 overall selection (Round 2) and Auburn running back Tank Bigsby with the No. 88 overall selection (Round 3). The Jaguars on Thursday selected University of Oklahoma offensive tackle Anton Harrison in Round 1 – No 27 overall.
The Jaguars hold one more selection in the '23 draft:
- No. 240 overall (Round 7)
