JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars moved to offense on Friday.
They moved to the interior of the offensive line, too, addressing it with immediate depth and long-term potential.
Luke Fortner, an interior offensive lineman from the University of Kentucky, on Friday night was selected by the Jaguars No. 65 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft – the first selection of the third round.
Fortner (6-feet-4, 307 pounds), who played 55 games in five seasons at Kentucky, played in the Senior Bowl this past January. He was a first-team All-Southeastern Selection this past season.
He allowed five sacks starting 36 games the past three seasons and started 13 games at center this past season. He started 23 games at guard in 2019-2020.
The Jaguars on Thursday selected Georgia outside linebacker Travon Walker No. 1 overall and Utah linebacker Devin Lloyd No. 27 overall. They hold seven more selections in the '22 draft: No. 70 overall (Round 3), No. 157 overall (Round 5), No. 188 overall (Round 6), No. 197 overall (Round 6), No. 198 overall (Round 6), No. 222 overall (Round 7) and No. 235 overall (Round 7).
