Lageman joins radio team

Former Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end and team leader Jeff Lageman has joined the Jaguars Network Radio team and will pair with Brian Sexton on all Jaguars games this season. Lageman will handle color analysis, while Sexton will continue calling play-by-play for the ninth season. Matt Robinson, who has served as the Jaguars' radio color analyst for each of the first eight seasons, will fill two roles for the team.

Robinson was Sexton's partner from 1995 to 2002, and he will now move to the television booth during the preseason, handling color analysis. All four of this year's preseason games will be televised on WTEV-47, the Jaguars' new broadcast partner. In addition, Robinson will serve as host of the team's new in-stadium sports desk for all eight regular-season home games. This is a new position in which Robinson will appear on the ALLTEL Stadium JumboTron and in-house monitors throughout the stadium, providing periodic updates and news to fans attending the games.

Lageman, 35, played for the Jaguars from 1995 to '98 and was the team's first captain. After his retirement he joined the Jaguars' preseason TV booth as color analyst for the 1999-2002 preseasons. Lageman also called NFL regular-season games for Fox Sports during the 1999, 2000 and 2001 seasons. In the Jaguars' first four seasons, Lageman started 37 of 40 games played, making 175 tackles and 9.5 sacks. His final year was ended in the season opener at Chicago because of a torn right biceps. In 10 NFL seasons, including his first six with the New York Jets, Lageman played in 122 games, making 118 starts. He totaled 555 tackles, 47 sacks, 12 forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries and one interception. He was a first-round draft choice of the Jets in 1989, the 14th player selected overall.

"These moves strengthen our overall broadcasts and will improve our communication with our fans, whether they are listening to a broadcast, watching a show, or attending the games in person," said Dan Edwards, Jaguars vice president of communications and media. "We're excited about the lineup of shows we have planned for radio and television, and the sports desk which Matt will host will be a great addition for the fans in the stands. With so much change taking place this year, changes to upgrade these areas made sense as well."

Lageman has been co-host of the "Jaguars This Week" radio show along with Sexton and Vic Ketchman on Wednesday nights on WOKV, and he will continue in that role. He will also continue as co-host of "THE Jaguars Show" on television along with Sexton. Lageman and his wife, Misti, live in Jacksonville with their son, Dylan.

All Jaguars games are broadcast on WOKV (690 AM) and WKQL (96.9 FM) and the Jaguars Radio Network. A total of nearly 20 affiliates in three states on the Jaguars Radio Network will also broadcast games.
