JACKSONVILLE – Jaguars experts – Frank Frangie, Jeff Lageman, Brent Martineau, John Oehser, Brian Sexton, J.P. Shadrick and Kainani Stevens – are breaking down the Jaguars as the 2024 NFL season approaches; today: The biggest issues to watch entering training camp
Frank Frangie, Radio Voice of the Jaguars
- Issue to watch entering training camp: Other than health — last year's injuries scared me — the offensive line. I think it can be good but I'm looking forward to seeing them all together.
Jeff Lageman, Jaguars Analyst and Former Jaguars Defensive End
- Issue to watch entering training camp: C.J. Stroud. The Houston Texans' second-year quarterback is coming off an amazing rookie campaign. Will he take another step? The Texans earned the AFC South title last season and on paper seem to have improved significantly in the offseason with free agency and the draft.
Brent Martineau, Action Sports Jax Sports Director
- Issue to watch entering training camp: I think the Jaguars' biggest worry going into camp should be how will the defense play in 2024. I think it's a natural curiosity given new defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen. There's a lot to like. There's a lot to buy. There's a lot unknown as well. The Jaguars have some really good pieces on defense, but who will play and how they will play in this scheme is the biggest worry going into the season.

- Issue(s) to watch entering training camp: Injuries and secondary. Injuries hurt the Jaguars' 2023 season as they faded from the postseason, with quarterback Trevor Lawrence playing through three injuries in the last six games and wide receiver Christian Kirk missing the last five games. The Jaguars made major free-agent improvements in the offseason, signing defensive tackle Arik Armstead, center Mitch Morse and cornerback Ronald Darby. All three being 10-year veterans makes durability a bit of a concern. Another area to watch: The secondary. The Jaguars overhauled cornerback, signing Darby and selecting Jarrian Jones in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft. This group is talented, but it has yet to play together. How it transitions to a new defensive approach will be a major early-season storyline.

- Issue to watch entering training camp: The offensive line. They were often injured and many times ineffective last season – and the quarterback went down with them. They must play at a very high level this fall for the quarterback to be at his best and they need the quarterback at his best.
J.P. Shadrick, jaguars.com Reporter/Editor
- Issue to watch entering training camp: The offensive line. Did the Jaguars do enough in the offseason to bolster and strengthen it? We will only find out once pads go on and they start pushing defensive players around – or don't.
Kainani Stevens, Team Reporter/Producer
- Issue to watch entering training camp: Depth on the offensive line. The Jags re-signed guard Ezra Cleveland and added Morse in the offseason. I applaud those moves, but I worry about the depth after injuries completely rattled the offensive line last year. Does this roster have enough depth to withstand injuries when they arise this season?
