Each Tuesday during the NFL season, Jaguars players are involved in the community by making visits to schools and other non-profit agencies. Players are also often scheduled for local promotional appearances. Listed below are several highlights for Tuesday.
10:00-11:30 a.m. Linebacker Wali Rainer will participate in the HealthSouth Go For It! Roadshow at the
Jacksonville Coliseum. Rainer will provide a motivational message to thousands of
children, then help coach kids through several educational and entertaining games. The
Go For It! Roadshow promotes positive lifestyle choices for students, including staying
in school and staying away from gangs, drugs, tobacco, and alcohol. Fitness and
nutrition information is also part of the show, as well as talking to kids about setting
goals, developing potential, and overcoming obstacles.
1:00-2:00 p.m. Quarterback David Garrard will speak to students at Crookshank Elementary School in
St. Augustine. The assembly is part of the American Lung Association's Unpuffables
anti-tobacco program, which is geared toward 5th graders.
4:00-6:00 p.m. Safety Donovin Darius, punter Chris Hanson, safeties Ainsley Battles and James Boyd,
and cornerback Kiwaukee Thomas will participate in the NFL and United Way
Hometown Huddle Career Day program at the Police Athletic League facility located
at 11751 McCormick Road in the Arlington area. In all 32 league cities on Tuesday,
over 300 players will be volunteering at United Way agencies, highlighting the 29-year
public service partnership between the NFL and the United Way.
6:45-8:30 p.m. Defensive end Paul Spicer and offensive tackle Maurice Williams will participate in the
Jaguars NFL 106 Workshop for Women at ALLTEL Stadium in the lower West Club
area. The annual workshop, the first of three scheduled for this fall, introduces women
to football basics and includes dinner, stadium tours, souvenirs, and discussion with players.
