Liberty running back Rashad Jennings was too good to pass up in the seventh round. The Jaguars coaching staff had first-hand knowledge of Jennings from the Senior Bowl and General Manager Gene Smith used the first of his final two picks of the 2009 NFL draft to add Jennings to the Jaguars roster.
"I'm not sure why he found himself sitting there at the bottom of the seventh round," coach Jack Del Rio said of Jennings, a big, powerful back that possesses soft hands.
After transferring from Pitt following his freshman season, Jennings rushed for more than 3,000 yards at Liberty over the next three seasons. Last fall, Jennings rushed for 1,500 yards and 17 touchdowns and caught 24 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns.
