The Jacksonville Jaguars hired two-time Super Bowl champion and former NFL QB Doug Pederson as head coach on Feb. 3, 2022.
In his first two seasons leading the Jaguars, Jacksonville produced a winning record in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 2004-05. In 2023, the team finished 9-8 and second in the AFC South. OLB Josh Allen (17.5) and OLB Travon Walker (10.0) led the Jaguars in sacks in 2023. Their 27.5 combined sacks were the most among any duo in the NFL. QB Trevor Lawrence recorded 4,016 passing yards, while WR Calvin Ridley posted 1,016 receiving yards and RB Travis Etienne Jr. recorded 1,008 rushing yards. This marked the first time in franchise history Jacksonville had a 4,000-yard passer, 1,000-yard receiver and 1,000-yard rusher in consecutive seasons. In 2023, Pederson and the Jaguars also became the first team in NFL history to win two games overseas in a single season.
Offense

Offensive Coordinator
Press Taylor enters his third season as the offensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2024. In 2023, for the second consecutive season, Jacksonville’s offense finished with a 4,000-yard passer (Trevor Lawrence), 1,000-yard receiver (Calvin Ridley) and 1,000-yard rusher (Travis Etienne Jr.). The Jaguars offense also finished the 2023 regular season in the top ten in passing offense (ninth) for the second straight season after finishing tenth in 2022. In Taylor’s two seasons as offensive coordinator, the Jaguars offense has finished third (404) and seventh (377) in total points in a season in franchise history.
Defense
Ryan Nielsen
Defensive Coordinator
Ryan Nielsen, a 21-year coaching veteran including eight years in the NFL, is in his first season as defensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Nielsen spent the 2023 season with the Atlanta Falcons as defensive coordinator, where the defense finished the regular season tied for the second-most forced fumbles in the NFL (18) and ranked ninth in total tackles across the league (1,076). Neilsen coached S Jessie Bates III, who earned 2023 Pro Bowl honors, as well as Week 1 and Week 12 NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors. Bates III also became the second player since 2000 to record double-digit tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble in a single game, joining Nedu Ndukwe in 2007. Under Nielsen’s lead, the Falcons ended the regular season as the third Falcons unit since 2000 to record 40+ sacks in a season.
Special Teams
Heath Farwell
Special Teams Coordinator
Heath Farwell, who just finished his eighth season coaching in the NFL, enters his third season with the Jaguars as the team’s special teams coordinator. In 2023, he helped K Brandon McManus convert 30 of 37 field goal attempts and be named October AFC Special Teams Player of the Month after converting 12 field goals on 12 attempts, four of which from at least 50 yards. Under Farwell's guidance LS Ross Matiscik received multiple honors for the first time in his career. He was named to the 2024 Pro Bowl Games, received first team Associated Press All-Pro and first-team NFL Players Association All-Pro honors. Matiscik led all long snappers with eight solo tackles and became the first long snapper since 2005 to record one tackle, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in a single game. Farwell helped P Logan Cooke set a franchise record of total punts inside the 20-yard line (162) after finishing with 29 during the 2023 season, passing P Bryan Barker (151).
