JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars have made a move in their secondary.

Sergio Brown, a free safety who signed as an unrestricted free agent last offseason, was released on Monday. The team announced the move late Monday afternoon.

Brown, a seven-year veteran, played in 15 games last season with four starts. He also played extensively on special teams throughout the season.

Brown, who played with New England and Indianapolis before joining the Jaguars, registered 29 defensive tackles last season with two passes defensed and two tackles for loss. He also had two special teams tackles.

The Jaguars signed free safety Tashaun Gipson as an unrestricted free agent from Cleveland in March, and fourth-year veteran Josh Evans – a starter in 12 games last season – remains on the roster. Johnathan Cyprien and Josh Sample are expected to compete at strong safety in training camp, with Earl Wolff also on the roster at strong safety and third-year veteran Craig Loston the other safety on the roster.
