ACKSONVILLE – Six signed, one remaining.
That's the status of the Jaguars' 2017 draft class now that the two earliest drafted players in the class now officially have signed with the team.
Offensive tackle Cam Robinson, the Jaguars' second-round selection in the 2017 NFL Draft, officially signed his rookie contract with the team Wednesday. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
"It feels great," Robinson said. "It's something you always dream about, since you were a kid. When you're a kid, this is a life-long goal. …
"Right now, everything's kind of going fast. I think when I get time to actually sit down and think about it, I'll realize how big of a deal it is. Right now, I'm just taking it all in stride."
Robinson participated in the Jaguars' rookie minicamp in mid-May and is now in his second week working with the team during organized team activities.
"I think it's going well," Robinson said. "There are always a ton of things I can improve on; the type of player I am, I'm always looking to improve. But I think for the most part I've made pretty good strides and done a good job of progressing day in and day out."
Robinson started 43 of 43 possible games at left tackle at Alabama, starting for the Crimson Tide from the beginning of his true freshman season. He forewent his senior season to declare for the draft – and at 21, he is still young by NFL standards.
Robinson was widely projected as one of the top three or four left-tackle prospects in the draft, and according to analysts he also projects positively as an NFL right tackle because of his strength, size and power. Analysts also projected him as able to play guard at the NFL level.
Robinson became the sixth of the team's seven '17 draft selections to sign with the team. Former Louisiana State running back Leonard Fournette, the Jaguars' 2017 first-round selection, signed with the team two weeks ago.
Seventh-round cornerback Jalen Myrick (Minnesota), seventh-round fullback Marquez Williams (Miami), fourth-round wide receiver Dede Westbrook (Oklahoma) and fifth-round linebacker Blair Brown (Ohio) also have signed.
Illinois defensive end Dawuane Smoot (third round) remains the lone draftee unsigned.
