JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars have parted ways with another veteran.
With the 2016 league year and the opening of unrestricted free agency underway, the Jaguars released veteran running back Toby Gerhart on Thursday.
Gerhart, who signed with the Jaguars as an unrestricted free agent from the Minnesota Vikings in 2014, spent two seasons with the team and dealt with injuries through much of his time in Jacksonville.
Gerhart, who rushed for 1,305 yards and a 4.7-yard-per-carry average in four seasons as a backup with the Vikings, played in 21 games over two seasons with the Jaguars. He rushed for 370 yards and two touchdowns on 121 carries in 2014.
Gerhart rushed for 44 yards on 20 carries in 2015.
The Jaguars late last week released defensive end Chris Clemons and guard Zane Beadles. Like Gerhart, both players signed with the Jaguars as free agents in March 2014.
