Ryan Davis will be staying with the Jaguars.
What was likely before became official on Monday when Davis signed his one-year tender offer from the Jaguars. The team announced the signing early Monday afternoon.
The Jaguars had extended a one-year tender to Davis last week. He was scheduled to become a restricted free agent Wednesday at 4 p.m.
"We are pleased to have Ryan back on our roster and look forward to him contributing to our defense in 2016," Jaguars General Manager Dave Caldwell said in a statement Monday. "Ryan brings a unique skill set to the team and has shown good production in his role, as evidenced by his double-digit sacks over the past two seasons. We're excited about seeing that role expand in the future."
Davis (6-feet-2, 270 pounds) has played in 38 games since being promoted to the Jaguars' active roster in 2013. He has 11 sacks in three seasons while playing the Leo end position and playing mostly in the team's three-Leo, pass-rushing, "lightning" package.
He also has 31 tackles (25 solo), an interception, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and four passes defensed in three NFL seasons. He was originally signed by Jacksonville as an undrafted rookie from Bethune-Cookman in 2012.
