ROAR Introduction at Draft Day

The 2008 ROAR of the Jaguars made their debut at the Jaguars Draft Day Celebration at the Jacksonville Landing on Saturday, April 26th. The squad is made up of 32 women including 23 veteran cheerleaders and 9 rookie cheerleaders. The intense audition process began on March 4th with the final team being selected on March 15th. Auditions included dance evaluations, personal interviews and a final individual dance performance. The ROAR is an integral part of Jaguars entertainment during all home games. Under the direction of manager Christy Stechman Zynda, these professional cheerleaders captivate Jaguars fans with their explosive, high-energy routines. When not on the playing field, members of The ROAR serve as goodwill ambassadors for the Jaguars by participating in various community and charitable events nationally and internationally. These leading ladies also spend time entertaining our United States troops all over the world. The squad’s 2008 debut will be at the Jaguars’ preseason opener against the Atlanta Falcons on Saturday, August 9th.  


ROAR visits NAS Jacksonville

Jacksonville Jaguars offensive lineman Tony Pashos and defensive lineman Derek Landri joined two members of the ROAR cheerleading squad on Saturday at the Naval Air Station Jacksonville for a special deployment ceremony. More than 450 soldiers of the 345th Combat Support Hospital were deployed to Iraq for 400 days.  view photos


Tyndall Air Force Base

The ROAR spent March 28th-March 30th visiting Tyndall Air Force Base. Their visit coincided with Tyndall Air Force Base's 2008 Gulf Coast Salute Air Show that featured the USAF Thunderbirds along with the US Army Golden Knights Parachute Team, the USAF F-22 & F-15 Demos, Dan Buchanan, Aeroshell Team, the Aerostars, Patty Wagstaff, Ed Hamill, and many others. The cheerleaders toured the base, visited with the troops, signedautographs for the fans at the airshow and performed for 50,000-plus before the Aaron Tippin concert. One of the many highlights was the opportunity to met the new general of the 325th Fighter Wing -Brigadier General Darryl Roberson. The ROAR was hosted by the 95th Fighter Squadron of the 325th Fighter Wing. The 95th Fighter Squadron provides capable warriors for America's Air Dominance Force in the renown "world's greatest air superiority fighter," the F 15 Eagle. The 95th FS is one of two F 15 Fighter Training Units in the 325th Fighter Wing, Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla., providing initial qualification to pilots new to the F-15, and re-qualification training for pilots returning to Eagle units. The squadron maintains readiness to augment forces in the strategic defense of the continental United States.  view photos


ESPN The Weekend

In their 5th annual appearance at ESPN the Weekend at Walt Disney World, The ROAR entertained park guests with their exciting dance routines and their outgoing personalities. ROAR members Liana, Emily D., Tiffany, Missy, Mandy, Courtney, Laurie and Jennifer spent two exciting days at Walt Disney World performing, signing autographs and posing for countless pictures. “We signed autographs and took pictures with enthusiastic fans from all over the country that came to Walt Disney World for vacation and to participate in the ESPN the Weekend activities at the Disney’s Hollywood Studios, “ said ROAR cheerleader Tiffany. The cheerleaders also had the opportunity to meet the athletes and ESPN personalities in attendance. Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew was one of those athletes and the cheerleaders were even able to assist in his introductions to the crowd by forming their traditional gameday player introduction tunnel for him to run through. “The weekend is always a highlight of the year,” said ROAR cheerleader Missy. “It is amazing to be on a stage at Walt Disney World and to get to perform for so many avid sports fans.”  view photos

Jacksonville Jaguars cheerleader Erin Carlisle is featured in the 2008 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. Carlisle is one of 12 NFL cheerleaders chosen to be in the issue that hit newsstands earlier this week. This is the first time NFL cheerleaders have appeared in the issue.Carlisle, a Jacksonville native who is studying to be a court reporter, is a second-year cheerleader with The ROAR and can be seen in the annual calendar in both of her seasons with the team. She represents February in the 2007 issue and March for 2008.Carlisle was in New York City on Tuesday for the launch of the edition and walked the red carpet with the other models.“It was a lot of fun and exciting to see all of the other models,” Carlisle said. “Everyone was taking our pictures and wanted to know our story and what we thought about being in the magazine. Ever since I was a little girl and watched the behind the scenes of the making of the issue I wanted to be in it, and it was an incredible feeling to be able to live that dream.”  view photos

The ROAR visited Jacksonville's Ronald McDonald House on Monday, November 26. Missy, Kelli, Erin, Emily D., Kristen and Emily C. gathered to decorate a Jaguars themed Christmas tree that will have a prominent place in the house this holiday season. ROAR members were excited to bring the holiday spirit to the house and to meet some new friends during their visit. The Ronald McDonald House offers families of critically ill or injured children lodging and support services during their treatment at area medical facilities.  view photos

“Jaguars Night” was held on Friday, August 24 at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville as the Jacksonville Suns took on the Mississippi Braves. Jaguars players Fred Taylor and Rashean Mathis were in attendance to throw out the ceremonial first pitch and The 2007 ROAR of the Jaguars were in attendance signing autographs, performing pregame and even performing the National Anthem. ROAR members Allison and Katie sang an arranged duet of the National Anthem while ROAR member Courtney signed it for the hearing impaired. The audition process for The 2007 ROAR of the Jaguars began on March 31. Selection of the final 32 squad members was made on April 14. The squad is made up of 32 women, including 19 veterans and 13 rookies.  


ESPN the Weekend
